Rev. Dr. Lee-Johnson & First Lady MonaLisa
Rev. Dr. Charles Lee-Johnson was born and raised in Los Angeles, California. He is a graduate of Dorsey High School, completed his undergraduate studies at Morehouse College with a B.A. in sociology and received his Masters in Social Welfare from UCLA. In 1997, Rev. Lee-Johnson received his license to preach in the African Methodist Episcopal Church. Rev. Lee-Johnson received his ordination as an Itinerant Elder in the AME Church in October 2003 and received his doctorate in the class of 2015 at the United Theological Seminary. Rev. Lee-Johnson has been a member and served as an associate minister at HM Turner AME Church in Culver City, California, for over 10 years. He has been the proud Pastor of CCAME Church since 2008.
In addition to his work in the ministry, Rev. Dr. Charles Lee-Johnson provides consultation and training services both locally and nationally. Rev. Lee-Johnson has received numerous local, state, and national commendations from organizations including, but not limited to: State of California, County of Los Angeles, California State Legislature, Los Angeles and Compton Unified School Districts, King Drew Medical Hospital, UCLA Dept of Social Welfare and Public Policy, Ohio Abstinence Campaign, National Fatherhood Initiative, Indiana Black Expo and the National Association of Social Workers.
Rev. Dr. Lee Johnson is unequivocally committed to the positive development of young people, families and communities across the world. In a very short time, Rev. Dr. Lee-Johnson’s work has touched parents, children and organizations throughout the United States. His ability to integrate his professional knowledge with practical skills enables him to effectively work with diverse populations. Rev. Dr. Lee-Johnson’s enthusiasm and wealth of knowledge makes him one of the most dynamic and inspirational social workers in America. Rev. Lee-Johnson has worked collaboratively with the White House for the Helping America’s Youth Conference series. He has taken his message of hope and restoration to the international community in Nigeria, speaking for a series of Family and Youth Conferences throughout the country.
Among his many accomplishments, Rev. Dr. Lee-Johnson has created a curriculum for the Ten Step Rites of Passage Program, which consists of more than 500 pages of interactive, life-changing workshops for youth and families at risk. The Ten Step Rites of Passage curriculum has been recognized by professionals nationally and internationally as the most comprehensive curriculum targeting at-risk youth and families. Additionally, Rev. Dr. Lee-Johnson has co-authored a curriculum for Healthy African American Couples, and a curriculum for inmates and parolees called On Your Mark/Keeping the Faith.
Rev. Dr. Lee-Johnson is married to his wife, Monalisa Lee-Johnson, and they have five beautiful children and three grandchildren.
